Government Consultation on Mental Capacity Act 2005

The Government is consulting on the proposed changes to the Mental Capacity Act 2005 (MCA) Code of Practice, which includes guidance on the new Liberty Protection Safeguards (LPS) system.

The Government consultation on MCA 2005 is designed to protect and empower people who may currently lack the mental capacity to make their own decisions about their care and treatment.

The Mental Capacity Act 2005 (the MCA) is designed to protect and empower people who may currently lack the mental capacity to make their own decisions about their care and treatment. It also allows people who have capacity to make preparations for a time when they may lack capacity in the future.
